Jatin Das

Jatin Das, one of the most prolific figurative painters, is also a graphic artist, sculptor, muralist and a poet. Born in 1941, Jatin studied painting at Sir J J School of Art. Since he finished his art educated he has been participating in all important national and international art exhibitions, namely the Biennales in Paris (1971), and in Venice (1978) and the Documenta in Kessel (1975).

Laxma Goud

Laxma Goud, a master draftsman, displays his versatility over a range of mediums, from etching, gouache and pastels, to sculptures. Over the years he is known to have moved from one medium to another with elan. A student at the Government School of Art and Architecture Hyderabad, he graduated with a diploma in drawing and painting in 1963. His fellow colleague T. Vaikuntam, in one of his interviews, reminisces that it was Laxma Goud who introduced him to the art of sketching and made him aware of the possibilities of this medium.

Laxman Aelay

Laxman Aelay was born in the Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh in 1964. He received his BA in Painting from the JNTU College of Fine Arts in Hyderabad.

Laxman's paintings are nostalgic, depicting the rural people he grew up amongst. His source of inspiration has been the live of these poverty stricken people from his village - Kadirenigudem.

Paritosh Sen

Paritosh Sen was born in Dhaka, now in Bangladesh, in 1918 in a noted Ayurved's family. After finishing school, Sen ran away from home to join the Madras Art School headed by Devi Prosad Roy Chowdhury. In 1943, he along with his friends formed the Calcutta group. In 1949, Sen left for Europe. In Paris, he studied at Andre Lhote's school, Academie Grand Chaumier, Ecole des Beaux Arts and Ecole des Louvre where he studied the history of painting. A meeting with Picasso left a deep impression.

Sachin Jaltare

Sachin graduated in Fine Arts from Nagpur in 1991. He has participated in various exhibitions and shows including the Annual Exhibitions at Kala andir in Hyderabad in 2000, 2003, 2004.

Sachin has an educational foundation typical to the conservative J J School circle. The older strand of academic realism is married there to the Abstract Expressionist lineage. As a result, Jaltare’s oils on canvas have intimate portraits of beautiful, delicately sensuous girls rendered in a mixture of conventional, almost curriculum-resembling poses and a faint note of intimacy. Naturalness vies with artificially exaggerated dainty poses.
