An Ode to Art

When I founded my art company, many people would ask how do you choose what art to promote, given that there is so much out there..

How I go about it is I see an artist’s works. Then I wait to see if any magic happens. Many times it does, I get blown away by the colours, by the strokes, I hear the music beneath the layers and this is when I ask to see more works. Evaluate his past works, is there a flow, does his or her identity show through the paintings. I try to learn more about his life, his origins, his experiences, his inspiration, his raison d'etre.

That is why a true artist is someone who is true to his roots, his calling. When he is, his works ring true. There is that sincerity and that honesty.

Art is subjective, a painting that means so much to me may mean nothing at all to you. But this is exactly where the beauty lies. There is no correct or wrong in art. Something that is jarring to me may mean the world to you.

They say a picture speaks a thousand word. To me it is different. It does not speak, it sings. Art is music to me, I hear a melody, a rhythm, a mesmerising tune. I see an artwork and if I hear music, I know it is the one for me.

So go ahead and buy that painting you have been eyeing, it will give you immense joy in the years to come and moving forward, you will know you have a piece of history with you.

To all artists, paint on. There is someone out there like me who is looking forward to your creation.
