SREEKANTH KURVA

Born in 1968, completed his BFA in painting from College of Fine Arts, JNTU, Hyderabad, and MFA in Graphics from M.S.University, Baroda.

Though he specialized himself in printmaking Kurva has become an expert in watercolour and collage. His works are simple, single and prominent. They are graphical and stylized, direct, strong and demanding. Cocks, bulls, roosters...Kurva has carved his identity. He currently lives and works at Hyderabad, and also teaches printmaking in the department of graphics at PST University, Hyderabad.

In the Year of the Ox, Sreekanth depicts the Ox using a collage of silk zari (a gold thread woven into fabric to create intricate patterns) and other fabrics on canvas board.
